At the time Sri Lanka’s economy is shrinking due to the drying of foreign reserves President Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to appoint 36 State Ministers with effect from today (September 08th). These Ministers had been selected from the ruling Sri Lanka Progressive Front (Podujana Peramuna) and they are due to be sworn in before President today at a function scheduled to be held in President’s office, Colombo.

Earlier President had decided to restrict the number of State Ministers to 30. However due to the influence of the ruling Party officials that number had been increased to 36 according to government sources. President had already appointed a 20 member Cabinet temporarily until forming of an All party government. The talks held recently between the President and other party members regarding the forming of an All Party government had ended without a result.
