Superstar Rajinikanth Robot 2.0 has truly stuck to the motto of Make In India. His upcoming film is completely made in India — from locations, technicians and crew. The filmmakers decided to bring all-Indian crew and locations after Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested Rajinikanth to promote his Make in India campaign through his movie during their recent meet.

If you think ‘Make in India’ was applicable only to multinational corporates and manufacturing companies, you are wrong! Superstar Rajinikanth’s Robot 2.0 is about to set a new record by shooting the film entirely in India and having all-Indian crew for the film including the technicians to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.

Robot 2.0 is the sequel of Robot, which released in 2010. While many moviemakers travel around the globe to show the best of locations in the films, Rajini and the filmmakers decided to promote places within the country.

The decision came after actor Rajinikanth met with Narendra Modi when the shooting for Robot 2.0 had begun. A report in Economic Times said Modi suggested to the actor to promote Make in India theme.

The Rs 350-crore budget film will be a truly “Make in India“ themed movie, said the moviemakers.

Raju Mahalingam, COO, Lyca Productions, makers of Robot 2.0, said the climax was shot in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and the rest in EVP film city in Chennai.

“The attempt to give a futuristic feel to the movie has resulted in high production costs, but the quality of filming will make many Indian cinemas shift to 3D screens. This movie is shot using 3D techniques. This is being done for the first time in India,“ he was quoted in an Economic Times report.

The movie, which also stars Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as the villain, is set to release in October this year.

VFX designer Srinivas Mohan, who had earlier worked in `Baahubali’, and sound designer Resul Pookutty, who won an Oscar for `Slumdog Millionaire’, are working on Robot 2.0 hence setting high expectations among fans.
