DMK likely to emerge as the single largest party in the state
Chennai: In Tamil Nadu, where regional parties All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) are fighting each other, DMK alliance is leading in 36 seats.
The AIADMK, which won 37 seats in 2014, is leading in the remaining two.
The counting of votes is underway for the 38 Lok Sabha constituencies after the elections in Vellore Lok Sabha election constituency were cancelled due to the seizure of huge cash.
According to the present trends, DMK is likely to emerge as the single largest party in the state.
The results of bypolls to 22 seats are also being declared simultaneously in the state.
For the DMK, on the other hand, this is the first election under the leadership of M K Stalin. The results today will not only test his leadership but also set a new course for the DMK after the death of Karunanidhi.
