Reacting to the molestation of women in Bengaluru on New Year eve, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi said this happens because women roam about at nights with boyfriends `half-naked’.

Abu Asim Azmi-News-Time-NowRubbing salt into the wounds of the girls and women who were molested on New Year eve in Bengaluru, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi came up with some absurd reasoning. At the outset he said because women are available, men molest them.

Speaking to Times Now, he said women are sugar and men are ants. So, women should dress well.  Women call nudity fashion, he said in an absolute shocker.Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi-Bengaluru molestation-News-Time-Now

And this nudity is increasing in the country. This is a blot on our culture.  There should be strict action against those going against our culture,” he said, throwing the blame at the doorsteps of women.

Azmi went on to say that men and women are different, and therefore women must not step out of their place at night. He suggested that India follow the rules in Saudi Arabia where women are not allowed to go alone.

“If a girl celebrates after dark she should go with her husband, father and not with strangers”, Azmi said.

Meanwhile, the Congress gave a new twist to the incident. Spokesperson BK Hariprasad blamed fringe Hindutva elements and moral policing for the incident in Bengaluru where women were groped, pawed and molested. Defending Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara who said “these kind of things do happen”, Prasad said the whole incident was a conspiracy to bring disrepute to the Congress government in Karnataka.
