Veteran Kharge Loses in Kalburgi After 11 Victories

Mallikarjun Kharge lost to Umesh Yadav of the BJP by 37000 votes.

Bengaluru: In one of the biggest upsets, Opposition leader in the previous Lok Sabha and senior Congress party leader Mallikarjun Kharge lost from his traditional Kalburgi seats to his BJP’s Umesh Yadav by 37000 votes.

Kharge has been winning from this seat for the past 11 times.

Another senior Congress leader who lost was Veerappa Moily who got defeated by BJP’s B N Baccha Gowda by over 1 lakh votes in Chikkaballapur.

Similarly, senior Congress leader K H Muniyappa lost to BJP’s Muni Swamy in Kolar constituency.

In Bangalore North, Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda trounced sitting MLA Krishna Byre Gowda of Congress by 78000 votes.

In Bangalore South new comer Tejaswi Surya of the BJP completely decimated B K Hariprasad of Congress by over 1.40 lakh votes. This was the seat held by the late Ananth Kumar.

In Mandya actor Sumalatha Ambareesh is leading over Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of the chief minister by over 22,000 votes.

In Dakshina Kannada, BJP’s  D K Nalin Kumar Katil won by over 1.29 votes.
