Rhea Chakraborty allegedly tampered with Sushant Singh Rajput’s email after his demise: Report
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actress Riya Chakraborty to probe allegations of financial irregularities leveled by the late’s father Sushant Singh Rajput.
Chakraborty will now have to appear before the agency on August 7.
Based on the July 25 FIR in Patna by Rajput’s father KK Singh, the ED on July 31 registered a money laundering case against Chakraborty and some of her relatives.
In the FIR, it is alleged that Rs 15 Crores was withdrawn from Rajput’s account in a year. “In the bank accounts of persons who were not known or connected to the late actor” Chakraborty was also accused of giving Rajput an overdose of medicine at her home and saying that the actor was suffering from dengue.
The ED can investigate whether Rajput’s money has been illegally siphoned off that will lead to money laundering allegations.
Under the FIR, IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating). the offence of cheating falls under the category of predicate offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
While hearing her plea, the top court directed the Centre, Bihar and Maharashtra governments, Mumbai Police, and the father of Sushant to file their replies on Chakraborty’s petition seeking to transfer the case registered by the Bihar Police to Mumbai.
The Center has accepted the Bihar government’s request to recommend a CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
In a video statement previously released by his lawyers, Chakraborty said She trusts the judiciary and She will get justice.
