Badminton champion PV Sindhu has set her eyes on a new court – Bollywood. In an interview, she said she would like to play her role herself if a biopic is made in Bollywood, unlike in films like Dangal or Bhag Milkha Bhag where other actors played the role of sports champs.

When asked who should play PV Sindhu, if a biopic were to be made, pat came the reply: “I loved Dangal and, honestly, I want to see myself playing the role of PV Sindhu”.

So, Bollywood, any takers?

In an interview with Bangalore Times, she also spoke of her rivalry with Saina Nehwal.

The India Super Series was talked about because Sindhu and Saina Nehwal had an eyeball to eyeball confrontation on the court. When asked if there any awkwardness between the two because of this perceived rivalry, she said “Saina is a great player and an amazing fighter. There is no awkwardness at all with her. But yes, I’m glad that I won the tournament”.

After defeating Rio Olympics Badminton champion Carolina Marin of Spain, Sindhu lifted her maiden India Open Super Series title on Sunday evening. She was asked if she had this fleeting thought that she could have done it at Rio Olympics too.

But she brushed it aside saying such a thought never passed through her head. “I defeated her at the Dubai World Superseries as well. I don’t allow a victory or loss to burden me. Once a game is over, my mind shifts to the next one,” she said.

Sindhu is now on her way to Malaysia for the superseries. “I’m off to Malaysia for the next superseries. Yes, I’m definitely confident, but my focus will be on one match at a time,” she added.

She said her good luck charm is always proper planning with her coach. That works best for her as far as charms go.

On her celebrity status, she said “People often come up to me and say, `My child wants to pursue badminton. How should we go about it?’ I always tell them that the only thing that matters is to work hard. Also, parental support is of utmost importance. My parents have played a huge role in motivating me”.

On her spectacular rise, she said: “I am happy and thankful for what I have achieved. As an Indian and as a woman, it’s feels great to see other women scaling great heights in their chosen fields. It does feel nice when they look up to me as a role model”.
