From the luxurious Poes Garden and holding a powerful position as AIADMK Interim General Secretary, V K Sasikala is today a semi-skilled worker at the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru.
Not used to doing any work when she was the close confidante of Jayalalithaa, Sasikala has been assigned various works as a semi-skilled worker, reports Public TV.
Sources said she would be assigned to roll agarbathis and would be paid 50 rupees a month as salary.
On her first day in jail, Sasikala had to sleep on the floor and was woken up at 5.30 am and told to meditate till 6 am. After that she read various Tamil News paper and had breakfast at 7.30.
From 8, she was assigned the job of rolling agarbathis. For one week the jail authorities would give her various semi-skilled like making envelopes, binding books etc. Depending on her efficiency, she would assigned a job, sources added.
Soon after all the jail formalities were over, Sasikala got 3 jail sarees, a pillow, blanket and a bed sheet. She was assigned number 9234. Illavarsi is prisoner number 9235 and Sudhakaran 9236
Meanwhile, in Chennai, Sasikala’s proxy Edapaddi Palanisami is likely to be sworn in as Chief Minister today.
Despite several theories floating around, Governor C Vidyasagar Rao is likely to stick to the rulebooks and swear in the AIADMK legislature party leader as chief minister today, a Raj Bhavan insider in Mumbai told the Times of India.
There will be no composite floor test and Palanasami will be asked to prove his majority on the floor of the house in a week. A Raj Bhavan source said that after meeting Palaniswami and caretaker chief minister O Paneerselvam on Wednesday evening, the governor accepted the claim of Palaniswami on the basis of number.
“Palaniswami submitted a list of 124 legislators, while Paneerselvam claimed that he has the support of eight legislators. The governor now has no option but to invite Palaniswami to form the government,” the Times of India quoted the source.
He said the governor examined all aspects, including reports that a section of legislators have been kidnapped and lodged in a resort, before concluding that Palaniswami has the support of the requisite number of legislators.
On Wednesday evening, Palaniswami met the Governor on the latter’s invitation. Soon after the AIADMK team left, OPS reached there with his nine men and sought his intervention to “set free” MLAs from the Koovathur resort, before taking a final call on the present crisis.
But the Governor has taken the stand that the test should be only on the floor of the house and if the MLas were indeed kidnapped, they could exercise their vote in the Assembly.
