President Ranil Wickremesinghe had prorogued the Current Parliament through a Gazette notification with effect from midnight last night (July 28).
The prorogued Parliamentary session will be ceremonially re opened at 10:30 a.m. on 03rd of August by the President Wickremesinghe. After the reopening of the Parliament President will fread his Policy statement to the house. Proroguing of a Parliamentary session is a normal tradition performed by a newly elected President accordance to the Sri Lanka’s constitution. With the prorogation of the Parliament more than 50 committees functioning at the Parliament will become defunct.
