The government has decided to hold a debate on attacking the protesters of “Gota go home “village in Galle face, Colombo this Wednesday (July 27) on a request made by the opposition.

The chief opposition whip Laxman Kiiriella of the main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party had earlier requested the government to convene the Parliament tomorrow (July 25) to hold a debate on the attack of “Gota go home” village.

However, due to the problems that arise on calling all the MP’s to Colombo tomorrow, the Government has decided to hold the debate on this Wednesday when the Parliament meets to approve the Gazette notification issued by President Ranil Wikramasinghe on the state of emergency.

The military attack carried out against the peaceful protesters at “Gota go home” village last Friday was an illegal and anti-democratic act, the Chief Opposition whip has stated.
