Main Opposition SJB Party To Vote Against State Of Emergency In Parliament

The main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party had decided to vote against the proclamation of the State Of Emergency declared by Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wikramasinghe as the acting president when it will be taken up for debate in Parliament today (July 27).

The Parliament is scheduled to be convened at 10 AM today to pass the State of Emergency as a law and the debate regarding this will be held until 4:30 PM the government sources had revealed.

Main opposition SJB had stated that the Party had unanimously decided to vote against the state of emergency which was declared under the public security ordinance because it blocks the freedom of expression and freedom to protest.
