Surrounded by partymen and media, BJP president Amit Shah landed in Kerala Chief Minister Vijayan’s backyard and stronghold of Pinarayi in politically volatile Kannur district to lead a march. The aim is to take the BJP to the second slot – a position vacated by the Congress in the state. The BJP’s vote percentage has increased in leaps and bounds in recent times.

The Shah of BJP announced a two-week ‘padyatra’ in all state capitals from tomorrow against the CPM’s alleged targeting of his party’s workers.

Addressing a rally in Pinarayi, Shah held Vijayan personally responsible for the violence in the state. BJP workers were victims of “political murders”, he said..

Shah was in Kannur to launch a fortnight-long march, called Jan Raksha Yatra, by the party in the state to protest alleged political violence by the Left party.

“CPM leader and Kerala chief minister Vijayan is directly responsible for all political murders in Kerala,” he alleged.

As many as 120 BJP workers, 84 in Kannur alone, have been killed in the state since 2001. Fourteen people were killed in Kannur since the CPM came to power last year, the BJP had said yesterday.

Tomorrow, in a big push, the BJP will parachute UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in God’s Own Country. The move has angered the Left and the Congress, showing signs of both discomfort and insecurity.
