Deve Gowda to Contest from Bengaluru North

Deve Gowda says this will be his last political fight.

Bengaluru : Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will contest from the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency.

Speaking at a party meeting here, the 85-year-old Janata Dal (S) supremo said he has given his nod and that the current elections would be his last political battle.

In the last elections too Gowda had indicated that he would no longer participate in Lok Sabha elections. But this time he had a change of heart as two of his grandsons – Prajwal Gowda, son of H D Revana Gowda, a minister in the Kumaraswamy government, and Nikhil Gowda, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy – are in the fray.

If they win, the senior Gowda wants to hand-hold them in parliamentary politics.

Deve Gowda vacated his bastion Hassan, from where he has never lost for the past 15 elections, in favour of Prajwal.
