Cong Spots Mysterious Black Box Offloaded from PM's Chopper, Demands Probe

In a 14-second video clip, a big black trunk is seen hauled away from a helipad to a private Innova in Karnataka.

Chitradurga: The Karnataka Congress on Sunday complained to EC about a “mysterious” black trunk which was allegedly offloaded and carried away in a hurry from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chopper during a BJP rally here.

A 14-second video clip tweeted by Congress shows a big black trunk being hauled away from a helipad to a private Innova parked nearby.

“A mysterious box was unloaded from PM Modi’s helicopter at Chitradurga yesterday and loaded into a private Innova which quickly sped away. The Election Commission should enquire into what was in the box and to whom the vehicle belonged,” said KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao in a tweet.

Although the video has been doing the rounds on the internet for quite some time, KPCC levelled the accusations on Saturday while Modi was campaigning in coastal Karnataka and then addressed a rally in Bengaluru.
The Congress demanded that the poll panel should investigate the contents of the box.

In Delhi, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said the Karnataka Pradesh Congress leaders have registered a complaint with the EC in this matter.

“We saw there were three more choppers escorting the prime minister’s helicopter. After landing, a black trunk was taken out and whisked away in a private car which was not part of the SPG carcade,” he alleged.

Sharma alleged that there was cash stashed in the trunk. “What was there in the trunk. If there was no cash in it, let there an inquiry be held.”

The BJP trashed the opposition’s allegations saying these are baseless allegations. “The Congress — which is synonymous with corruption — should come clean on its own issues,” said party spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao.
