Bengaluru: Despite rising numbers of Covid-19 cases and Covid-related deaths, it is business seems to be making a comeback. The state recorded nearly 17,000 new business registrations under the Shops and Commercial Establishments (S&E) Act and the Factories Act between January and August this year. Most registrations were under the S&E Act.

Business bouncing back in Karnataka

Currently, there are more than 6.6 lakh businesses registered in the state ranging across sectors under the S&E Act.

Among the sectors, hotels and hospitality have seen the most new registrations, followed by IT-ITes/mobile and IT networking. Garments and retail sectors too have seen new registrations.

Meanwhile, 8324 new Covid cases were reported on Saturday, taking the total caseload to 3,27,076. The day also saw 115 patients succumbing to Covid, taking the total to 5483.

While most cases were in Bengaluru, there was relief in Mysuru where the numbers were high for the last four days. Bengaluru had 2993 new Covid cases and 25 Covid-related deaths while Mysuru had just 309 new cases and 11 deaths.

Among the other districts, Ballari had 468 new cases followed by Hassana (325) and Davanagere (319).
