Sorry Sasikala, You Will Have to Wait

Sasikala’s ambition to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu may receive a setback if the Supreme Court pronounces a verdict that is not in her favour. That is why Governor is making her wait.

Sorry Sasikala, You Will Have to WaitTamil Nadu Governor Vidya Sagar Rao is making Sasikala to wait for her swearing in ceremony as Chief Minister. While he accepted the resignation of O Paneerselvam promptly, he has not given time to Sasikala for the swearing ceremony. He is reportedly seeking legal advice.
The Governor sees a Rs 69 crore roadblock in Sasikala’s way because the Supreme Court is due to deliver a verdict on the disproportionate assets case next week. Sasikala is facing charges of amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 69 crore.
Legal experts say that it could be unwise to swear in a Chief Minister and pull her down.
What needs flagging here is that
1 Swearing in a Chief Minister who is facing a major case a legally quagmire.
2 Union Govt counsel Duyshant Dave had recently prodded the Supreme Court to announce the verdict on disproportionate assets case. Which means the Union Govt wants a CM who has her legal slate absolutely clean.
Meanwhile, Sasikala has sacked people who are not loyal to her and packed her future cabinet with her ‘Yes’ men. This clearly shows her ambition.
In other development DMK’s MK Stalin has gone to Delhi to discuss Sasikala issue with legal experts and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
