A diary containing details of bribes received and payments made to senior Congress leaders in Delhi and Karnataka has put the Congress in a tight spot

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Got Dirty Money From KarnatakaKarnataka Congress leaders have found themselves in an embarrassing situation with details of bribe paid to members of their party high command being made public.

A diary that was seized during an IT raid from the bedroom of a Congress leader in Bengaluru has revealed names of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi with their initials and included several other Congress high command leaders.

However, it is yet to be confirmed by the investigating agencies whether the initials are actually the names of the ministers.

The diary also makes mention of Rs 65 crore bribe paid for the controversial steel flyover project.

Proving the allegations made by Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa against Karnataka Congress leaders, the leaked parts of the diary recovered from Congress MLC Govinda Raju’s house during an I-T raid, not only confirmed the charges but also detailed the extent of money paid to Congress high command leaders as a bribe during the Lok Sabha polls.

Caught off guard by the sudden development, the state congress leaders not only rallied against the central BJP leadership but termed the development as a ‘calculated strategy to destabilize the Congress government in Karnataka’.

In the slugfest, some of the ministers even confessed of being summoned by the I-T sleuths for interrogation in connection with the ‘Bribegate’ episode.

While the Karnataka Congress said the dairy – that has been leaked to the media – was a fake, it has also denied the allegations that ministers (mentioned with their initials) paid any bribe to their leaders.
