After a CM, Chinnamma Wants Prison of her Choice

Jailed AIADMK general secretary Sasikala’s lawyers are seeking her transfer from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara jail to Chennai’s Puzhal Central Prison.

We want Sasikala to be shifted from Bengaluru to Chennai and have commenced the process,” a senior AIADMK functionary told TOI.

As per the procedures, Sasikala’s lawyers have applied to the superintendent of Parappana Agrahara jail. It is up to the consent of the two states.

But Sasikala is no ordinary prisoner. If she is transferred to Chennai prison, she can live a life of comfort. Her nominated Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami will bend backward and may also fall at her feet in ensuring that she gets more that what she asks for. This will be a travesty of justice.

B V Acharya, the special public prosecutor in the DA case, said Sasikala’s case is different. She has been imprisoned in the Karnataka jail as per the directions of the Supreme Court. She cannot be shifted without the Supreme Court’s permission. If they do so without informing the apex court, then it can be challenged,” said Acharya.
