Dubai: With just a day left for the New Year Eve bash, all arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of visitors and residents in Dubai. Ambulances and paramedics will be deployed at the venues where the celebrations will be held on New Year Eve.

The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) will station 159 ambulances and 774 paramedics in prominent areas   like Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall and other places, where a huge number of visitors are expected.

“A total of 19 events have been secured, and all the 91 ambulance points in the emirate, including vital areas as well as the internal roads and highways have been marked,” said Khalifa bin Derai, DCAS’s executive director.

“As many as 23 extra ambulance points are marked around Burj Khalifa as well as 12 mobile ambulance points manned by 67 paramedics, drivers and nine emergency medicine technicians and an emergency doctor are earmarked,” he added.Dubai's best health experts will serve-News-Time-Now

Bin Derai said all the ambulance points at Dubai airports were activated in anticipation of the increase in the number of incoming and outgoing passengers.

“Two more ambulance points were added at the airports, bringing the total number to 16. Smart ambulance points will commence functioning depending on the basis of the number of departures and arrivals of the flights.”

He said 199 vehicles and cars were deployed and put on alert for quick intervention in case of eventualities and occurrence of accidents. These include five sports cars, 17 respondents, four motor bikes, three buses for disaster management and four technical support units for the land intervention and winter camps service.

“A total of 774 paramedics and drivers have been summoned for quick intervention in rush hours, including 15 medical messengers, three guide officers and medical dispatcher supervisors,” he said, adding that the corporation had activated the crises and disasters department’s plan which was chalked out for such circumstances.

The plan includes deployment of paramedics riding on bicycles and motorbikes to prevent overcrowding, quick intervention as well as providing female paramedics to reach out to cases where women and children are involved.”
